hochroth ist ein europäisches Verlagskollektiv mit mehreren eigenständigen Gruppen, das sich der Publikation von Literatur, hauptsächlich Lyrik widmet. hochroth setzt auf „Bücher zum Anfassen“, die in liebevoller Handarbeit hergestellt und einzeln nummeriert werden.
Das Programm wird durch die Entscheidungen der Standorte und das gemeinsame Selbstverständnis geprägt. hochroth legt Wert auf finanzielle Unabhängigkeit, intensive Kommunikation und Textarbeit mit den Autorinnen und Autoren unter Wahrung ihrer Autonomie, hochwertige Buchgestaltung sowie die fortwährende Teilnahme am gegenwärtigen literarischen Leben. Mit der Veröffentlichung von Übersetzungen soll ein aktiver Beitrag zu kulturellen Übersetzungsleistungen erbracht werden.
hochroth considers itself a pilot project in the alternative publishers scene. During the past few years – particularly within the German editorial landscape – many of the leading publishing houses have canceled important poetry series. In order to combat this trend, hochroth is trying out alternative ways of publishing encouraging new editorial initiatives. In comparison to the common trend, which is to publish poetry online, hochroth produces „tangible books“ in a traditional way. The publishing house is making new inroads in terms of production and sale. The books are the result of a combination of professional and handmade production. They are mainly sold through direct distribution (bookstands, vendor’s tray). The number of copies printed depends on the demand, and every edition is marked with a sequential number. In addition to these individual publications, the magazine hochroth appears once or twice a year.
La maison d’édition de hochroth est un projet pilote sur la scène alternative des éditeurs. Durant les dernières années – et particulièrement sur le paysage éditorial allemand – les grands éditeurs ont arrêté la production d’un grand nombre des recueils des poèmes importants. hochroth expérimente dont avec des techniques alternatives de la publication et incite les éditeurs à prendre de nouvelles initiatives. Contrairement à la tendance de publier des poèmes en ligne, hochroth produit traditionnellement des « livres à toucher » et les vend en distribution directe (stand de livres, éventaire). On suit les nouvelles voies de la production et la distribution : la production des livres est un mixe entre une production professionnelle et une production fait main. Les éditions sont réglées par la demande et chaque recueil est marqué par un numéro courant. A côté des publications individuelles, le magazine hochroth parait une à deux fois par an.
